ROYAL CANIN® DIABETIC dry is formulated for the regulation of blood glucose supply in adult cats with diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes mellitus is a condition where the body's ability to produce or use insulin is decreased. Insulin works to help 'push' sugar (glucose) from food into all cells of the body, to provide an energy source. Without the action of insulin, the sugar does not enter the cells of the body and instead remains in the blood in high levels. This may cause increased drinking with increased urination, sugar in urine and urinary tract infections and dehydration. Eventually if the condition becomes severe, pets can experience damage to body tissues, lameness due to nerve damage, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness and coma.
